GULF COAST CONDITIONS

Allergy & Air Quality on the Gulf Coast

Review available air-quality information for the Mississippi Gulf Coast and Greater New Orleans, and find resources for checking pollen reports before outdoor plans.

Air quality and pollen are different measurements.

The AQI panels below use available model-based air-quality information. They are not pollen counts or readings from a monitor at each named city. Check AirNow for available official observations and forecasts.

Local pollen counts are not currently provided by this site. Missing pollen data should not be treated as a zero count or a “low” allergy reading.

Open-Meteo / CAMS modeled U.S. AQI at regional reference points. These are not readings from a monitor in each city. Pollutants are in µg/m³.

Allergy & Pollen Resources

Pollen reports track airborne plant allergens and differ from the air-pollution index. Use the National Allergy Bureau map to look for a reporting station, then check its location and report date.

Station availability varies. A distant or older report may not represent conditions where you are. We link to the reporting service rather than reproduce its counts.

What this site can show today

The current air-quality integration supplies regional model information. Its Open-Meteo pollen source documents pollen availability for Europe, so this page does not publish its unsupported Gulf Coast pollen output.

For information about pollen reporting, visit AAAAI’s pollen-count guide.

Understanding the Air Quality Index

The U.S. AQI summarizes outdoor air pollution. Higher values indicate a greater pollution concern. It does not measure pollen.

U.S. Air Quality Index categories
AQI range Category
0–50 Good
51–100 Moderate
101–150 Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
151–200 Unhealthy
201–300 Very Unhealthy
301+ Hazardous

Where the information comes from

Air-quality summaries

The Traffic Alerts plugin requests Open-Meteo air-quality data for selected regional coordinates and caches these results for approximately 30 minutes. The source uses CAMS atmospheric models; a named location is a reference point, not necessarily a physical monitoring station.

Official air-quality information

Use AirNow to check available agency observations and forecasts for your location.

Pollen reporting

The National Allergy Bureau provides a map of pollen-reporting stations. Check the station location and the date before using a report.

Coverage and update limits

Unavailable or incomplete source data may prevent a location from appearing. The existing plugin does not yet expose an observation timestamp for each AQI panel. See data sources and updates for more information.

Model output, official monitor observations, and pollen reports may use different locations and time periods.
